Salone del Mobile 2026 – news, biennials, and itineraries

by Sara Gecchelin.

An essential guide to navigating the 64th edition of the Salone, taking place from 21 to 26 April 2026 at Fiera Milano Rho. This will be the year of Raritas, a new platform dedicated to art galleries and fine craftsmanship: the uniqueness of the objects redraws the boundaries of the project.

Here we are, the Salone del Mobile.Milano (21-26 April 2026) is preparing for its 64th international rendezvous with the design and furniture industry, and it is doing so by unveiling a new feature that deserves immediate attention: the debut of Salone Raritas. It will be a fair within a fair, bringing to the public’s attention the phenomenon of “collectible design,” a field in which design transcends function and serial production to become one-of-a-kind or limited-edition pieces, making its way into art galleries.

But let’s get back to everything you need to know about the 2026 edition of this show: participation, structure, and what we’ll see. Expectations, as always, are high: with eagerly awaited returns, immersive installations, and a sold-out fair with over 1,900 exhibitors, the Milanese event confirms its solid and steady growth, maintaining its title as one of the most important trade fairs on the global stage.

THE KEY NUMBERS

This year’s lineup includes: 1,900+ exhibitors (36.6% from abroad); 227 brands, both new and returning; 169,000 m2 of net exhibition space, sold out; 700 designers under 35 at SaloneSatellite; and 23 international schools and universities.

THE MAP OF THE EXHIBITION

The show will take place inside the Rho exhibition centre. In the map—available on the Salone del Mobile website—the space is organized according to a clear chromatic division: each pavilion is identified by a different color, explained in a legend and designed to guide visitors through the thematic itineraries of the exhibition. The color coding allows you to quickly orient yourself between the different areas: from the main exhibition (in red) to the Biennials (in yellow and sage green), and from the Salone Satellite (in light blue) to special sections such as Raritas (in gray).

TWO RETURNS NOT TO BE MISSED – THE 2026 BIENNIALI

EuroCucina + FTK – Technology For the Kitchen represents the privileged observatory on the evolution of the kitchen world. This year it will return with 106 exhibitors from 17 countries, new brands and a focus on intelligent systems, AI integration, biophilic design and the possibility of designing bespoke and personalized environments. The FTK section will give you the opportunity to discover new-generation household appliances: refrigerators that recognize food, ovens that regulate cooking, self-dosing dishwashers. In terms of aesthetics, more integrated lines and touchless interfaces will define a kitchen of the future that will be increasingly quiet.

This year, the Salone Internazionale del Bagno, the showcase for the most private room in the home, will bring together 163 brands from 14 countries to showcase a bathroom concept that’s closer to a home spa. Dramatic walk-in showers, equipped niches, mirrors, and atmospheric lighting; but also textured surfaces and mineral finishes. At the heart of every project is the pursuit of well-being, accompanied by concrete aspects such as water efficiency, hygiene, and durability. Technology will be showcased in digital showers, smart toilets, and faucets with sensors for more efficient use. A focus on longevity will show how a bathroom can stand the test of time without losing either aesthetics or comfort.

LA NOVITÀ DI RARITAS – COLLEZIONISMO + INDUSTRIA

With Salone Raritas, rarity connects with design, creating new synergies between special creative production and the international project supply chain. In pavilions 9–11, curated icons, one-of-a-kind pieces, outsider pieces, limited editions, antiques, and high-quality creative manufacturing will be displayed in a narrative designed to let the objects speak for themselves and make their value clear for architects, interior designers, and hospitality professionals.

There will be 25 carefully selected exhibitors, including Nilufar, COLLECTIONAL, Salviati x Draga & Aurel, Mouromtsev Design Editions, Mercado Moderno, Bianco67 and Brun Fine Art. The curatorship by Annalisa Rosso and the exhibition design by Formafantasma will transform the installation into an “architectural lantern,” designed to bring out the expressiveness of the pieces themselves.

UNEDITED PATHS AND PREVIEWS – LUXURY AND CONTRACT

Walking through A Luxury Way, housed in pavilions 13–15, we will find ‘Aurea. An Architectural Fiction’, an immersive installation by Maison Numéro 20, which showcases an imaginary hotel where the 5-star interior transforms into a sensorial story, working on the emotional and perceptive dimensions of living.

The visitor will be invited to traverse contrasting universes: from the lush winter garden to the surreal dining room, from the mysterious smoking lounge to the living room library with fireplace. The initiative proposes a new way of understanding luxury: no more ostentation, but attention to the planet. Every exquisite detail—from materials to fabrics, from lighting to structures—is selected following principles of circularity and environmental respect.

The Salone Contract, the strategic project of the Salone del Mobile.Milano dedicated to the evolution of the contract sector, will debut in 2027. Its masterplan has been entrusted to Rem Koolhaas and David Gianotten of OMA (Office for Metropolitan Architecture). This innovation will introduce new connections between design, integrated supplies, and B2B networking to the next Milanese event. The preview at the 2026 fair includes a selective exhibition, thematic itineraries dedicated to contract, and a talk exploring the transformations underway in the sector.

SATELLITE SALON – CRAFTSMANSHIP and DESIGN

The 27th edition of SaloneSatellite, the scouting space created by Marva Griffin Wilshire to recruit talent under 35 from around the world, will focus on craftsmanship combined with innovation. A savoir faire that combines gesture, technique, and responsibility to become the new driving force of contemporary design. In pavilions 5 and 7, over 700 young designers from 43 countries, joined by 23 international design schools and universities, will showcase their hybrid craftsmanship, demonstrating their ability to bring natural materials, local techniques, and slow processes into dialogue with technology and industry without losing authenticity and restoring centrality to the connection between object and person.

BEYOND RHO – EVENTS IN THE CITY

Starting with the opening night at the Teatro alla Scala, the Salone del Mobile.Milano will combine the energy of Milan Design Week with its urban landmarks. Also in Piazza della Scala, the iconic Design Kiosk photography booth, curated by Corraini Edizioni and designed by DWA-Design Studio, will be set up; it will also be flanked by the three-dimensional sign “Salone del Mobile.Milano.” A special newsstand created with K-Way in Piazza del Duomo will become a narrative hub and the starting point for a 5-stage urban itinerary, conceived by Bianca Felicori (Forgotten Architecture), which will rediscover Milan’s significant buildings. Finally, over 200 showrooms of the brands exhibiting at the fair will open their doors, transforming the city into a vast, open-air laboratory of creativity and innovation.
