by Marta Bellacosa.
They are the protagonists of lighting, illuminating environments and transforming them with plays of reflections with suggestive three-dimensional effects: a design classic that does not feel the passage of time and looks to the future with increasingly advanced models.
Since their origins, chandeliers have been one of the most important furnishings in domestic environments (and not only), starting from their primary function, linked to pure lighting, until they became true protagonists of interior design. Already in Roman times there were examples that functioned with oil and were surprisingly well made, later replaced by structures that used candles – a must that lasted for centuries – while at the same time discovering an increasingly dynamic aesthetic thanks to materials such as glass, stone and porcelain that characterised the lines that, even today, are an inexhaustible source of inspiration for designers.
Furthermore, the development of light bulbs since the 19th century has led to the birth of the most performing contemporary concept, which has never given up that touch of pure formal flair capable of making the difference. The 2025 trends confirm a growing interest in innovative designs, sustainability and technological integration: today chandeliers are not only beautiful but conveniently adjustable from your smartphone thanks to creative and highly functional solutions.
