The oldest district of the Fuorisalone – the first one since “way back” in 2001 – Tortona<\/strong> is gearing up for the Milan Design Week 2024<\/strong> edition (April 16-21, 2024). Needless to say, the program is filled with many appointments, from Superdesign Show – Superstudio<\/strong> (full program here<\/a><\/strong>) to Tortona Rocks<\/strong> (full program here<\/a><\/strong>), including locations and events that rightfully earn a spot in your agenda, like the ever-present BASE<\/strong>. Collectives, monographs, exhibitions, and installations – the choices are endless.<\/p>\n

Among industrial buildings from the early twentieth century, now restored for some time with refined contemporary concepts, and spaces in which to get lost, among countless names of the avant-garde design scene, the historic neighborhood behind Porta Genova<\/strong> welcomes the most creative imagination, in a leitmotif that tells of a desire shared experimentation. But not just that. We can also see the rediscovery of a d\u00e9cor with vintage features which today finds new avenues of expression. WHAT TO SEE<\/strong><\/p>\n

1st (FIRST) – IKEA<\/strong> – new collection<\/span> exhibition<\/span>
\nAt the Visconti Pavilion, the Swedish brand presents an exhibition event that explores “firsts”. Inside the space, designed by the architect Midori Hasuike and the spatial designer Emerzon, we will be told what happens when you go to live alone for the first time, a fundamental step in everyone’s life, different from person to person. Furthermore, the location will host a bistro with ad hoc culinary products and in the evening it will be the focus of a rich musical program, different every day.<\/p>\n

UNFOLD – DOMUS ACADEMY MILANO<\/strong> – exhibition<\/span>
\nDomus Academy presents an exhibition-event that brings together students and design schools from all over the world. Six universities and as many perspectives united by a single theme to give space to young talents: “Unfolding complexities”. The universities involved are: BAU College of Arts and Design in Barcelona, \u200b\u200bCollege for Creative Studies in Detroit, Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava, Strate Ecole de Design in S\u00e8vres, Nottingham Trent and Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University.
