I can’t wait to discover Epònimo’s vision at the next Milan Design Week. Expectations, given the latest proposals for 2025, are high: the Milanese brand has now accustomed us to design pieces capable of speaking to people and restoring familiarity and warmth to environments. With the power of memory.
Do you want to know why I like Epònimo’s design? Because this name is not just a label, but represents a very original and rare manifesto of intentions in the panorama of contemporary interior design. In its name there is already everything: a declared identity, a distinctive sign, a project that comes from those who thought of it – the founders Federico Carandini and Alberto Colzani – but which also speaks of us, of what we recognize as familiar, essential, true.
Yes, because it is the vision of a company that chooses to return to the archetypes of design, passionately fueling a production that awakens the reassuring memory of shapes anchored to the golden years of the Fifties and Sixties furniture icons, at the same time, surprising with a modern aesthetic, capable of adapting to the “here and now”. The design is based on a clear principle: recovering the original morphologies of design, those that have shaped the collective imagination, and reinterpreting them in the light of contemporaneity, with the plus of the use of natural materials, processed with the aid of new technologies and specialized manufacturing.
This is the corporate culture of a brand that was born in 2014 in Milan and reveals the most profoundly human side of its Milanese nature when it chooses not to chase trends, but to honor history and time.Recovering the fundamentals of design, he studies them with respect and reworks them with harmony, without betraying them.A formula that makes the presence of its products in the space not only pleasant, but suitable for any context.
Each piece by Epònimo is a synthesis between past and present, between known form and unexpected detail.

Another aspect that I appreciate about this brand is that its production made in Milan is authentic and ultra-local, almost intimate: in fact it does not exceed 50 kilometers from the Lombard metropolis and is entrusted to expert hands, in workshops and laboratories where they still know how to do it well. At Epònimo the focus is not on quantity, but on quality: the materials are carefully selected, the finishes are artisanal, the thought behind each project is profound and consistent with the idea of preserving exemplary aesthetic codes – hence the name – enhancing their beauty, with grace and discretion, through carefully studied design interventions.
I like this reality, because in a world that runs ever faster, little by little it has come far: it now offers 50 products in its catalogue, including sofas, chairs, tables and armchairs which are not just furnishings, they are presences. Versatile, elegant, comfortable, but above all original. I can’t wait to discover the latest news at the Fuorisalone 2026, because the five pieces that the brand presented during the last Milan Design Week really had a lot of character. Let’s do a recap.
The Endo swivel armchair – here in the natural and black leather version – is available in 15 colours, design Alberto Colzani, 60x80x89h cm.

Endo is a swivel leather armchair. Perfect example of understated elegance, but with a very rich material appearance, which becomes unique over time.Leather panels are stretched and sewn to the internal frame, in tubular steel, which, without the use of polyurethane foam or elastic straps, optimize sustainability and adapt to the shape of the body over time, transforming Endo into a personalized seat.
Toid coffee table with a single bronze structure, design Federico Carandini, Ø 40x55h cm.

The Toid coffee table would once have been called a “smoking table” and is in fact inspired by that type of furniture, even if today it is called a “side table”. Its peculiarity lies in the bronze structure, obtained from a single terracotta casting which, thanks to a process, carried out completely by hand by a master caster near Milan, reveals the two opposite material qualities of this material. In the lower part, treated with wax and then flame, the finish is rich, warm and almost black, while the upper surface is mirror polished and bears the “solarized” circular sign, deliberately preserved as a precious detail, which develops naturally during the manufacturing process.
Extreme comfort and playful character for the Gotham armchair, design Federico Carandini, 63x58x80h cm.

To expand the family of Gotham armchairs comes the small version, which takes up the aesthetic and construction principles and introduces new formal elements.Curves and large volumes for the padded textile parts give it a playful and inviting image, while leaving the visual contrast unchanged which, strengthened by an oak armrest, is the stylistic feature of all the seats in the line. To give strong character to the product, the covering in Casentino cloth, the traditional Tuscan wool fabric historically used for clothing and introduced by Epònimo in the world of contemporary furnishings, and the corduroy cotton velvet.
Alustool, stool in cut and folded aluminum sheet, with rubber feet, design Alberto Colzani, 44x48x98h cm.

Essential and light but also rich and comfortable, the Alustoool stool is developed starting from the essential and archetypal lines of the chair of the same name. Designed with aluminum plates cut, bent and assembled without any welding, it is supported by cylindrical metal legs and rubber feet which help to avoid making noise when moving it. The apparently rigid seat is instead made comfortable by the detachable cushion.
Roll low table in marble obtained from a single block, design Federico Carandini, Ø 90x30h cm.

More than a complement, the Roll coffee table is a sculptural element. Obtained from a single block of Carrara marble, it has a plastic and organic shape that changes depending on the point of observation. But it is also a functional piece of furniture, which obtains an internal cavity from the cylindrical volume where it can contain cushions, books, magazines, etc. While the upper surface, thanks to a small raised edge, allows objects to be placed safely.
Looking at these furnishings, you can perceive the scent of expertly crafted wood, the softness of the leather shapes and fabrics which do not scratch the gaze, but cradle it. It’s like revisiting the glossy covers of a few decades ago, but with the light and air of today. An iconic style that smells of home, of things done well, of lasting beauty. The feeling it conveyed to me is that design can be a bridge between eras. Each piece of Epònimo is an exercise in balance between nostalgia and innovation, and each sign tells an ancient story with a new voice.
On the cover, the new Gotham armchair: small dimensions, comfort to the nth degree.
