A sparkling freedom with a vintage flavor pervades the Christmas mise en place: the hyper-décor leaves room for a more intimate dimension, creating refined suggestions that recall the tableware of the past.
A discreet luxury, which is found in the details, pervades the 2024 Christmas table, inspired by the simple elegance of the equipment of the past, with the silverware and crystals carefully positioned on the most precious tablecloths, in the romantic light of the candles placed on the candelabras of family, which are transformed into très chic centrepieces. A refined mood, which abandons extreme decoration in favor of a more fascinating and shared tradition, where “less in more” becomes a diktat of pure inspiration, without however falling into minimalism.

The décor becomes more sober but does not give up all those small refinements capable of making the difference, inspired ça va sans dire by the most representative colors of the period: red and white which, together with midnight blue and a new tobacco, mix between them to create mix and matches united by a common trait d’union, gold. But there are also some surprises, such as the return of a rich and material textile to be toned down with contrasting white placemats, on which to place rattan or glass placemats, elegantly chiseled and with gold touches.

TEXTILE POWER
The tablecloths and placemats are the undisputed protagonists of the table, with a wallpaper effect with patterns that recall the foliage of the Sixties, or in crimson velvet with a Victorian flavour. On these colorful canvases the most suitable cutlery is in silver, with handles colored in cream or red-brown, or in the timeless gold – protagonist of the mise en place with a total white background – both suitable for the more magical alternative: blue.

For simpler souls, dark colors can be toned down with placemats to use as placeholders and on which to set the Christmas ensemble, precious and embroidered, with that handmade allure of great-grandmothers’ trousseaus. It is this conceptual freedom that makes each table unique, where it is possible to mix ancient and modern but where the rules of etiquette, at least at Christmas, must be followed to create unique settings on which to celebrate with extreme charm.

CHIC DETAILS
The glasses speak the language of tradition, in crystal and chiseled, to be mixed with pieces found in markets or in contemporary services that are inspired by the most refined design of yesteryear. Christmas is the opportunity to toast and show off the cup models for champagne or tumblers for whisky, to be accompanied by coolers which – to amaze guests – become large and capacious, sparkling and spectacular.

Even at the moment of coffee and desserts, the cutlery must amaze, this year inspired by country chic which is also found in the centrepieces, where candles cannot be missing (excluding the scented ones which would disturb the dinner) and the related candelabra. One idea is to mix them together, at different heights, putting together those you have at home in a studied alternation, creating pendants with the same color of the candles, to illuminate the holidays and the most magical night of the year.
