How do today’s children and young people study? In a classic way but not only, at the desk but also elsewhere, often in connection with classmates and, even today, fighting the number one enemy: distractions.
The ability to concentrate can be improved with good organization of the study space and minimizing objects and accessories extraneous to it. Easy to say but not to do because, despite their digital existence, young and very young people own an unknown number of objects, more or less useful, but very attractive. So if the empty desk is a utopia, it is better to equip yourself to keep it in order or clear it out quickly when it is time to study. Also educating on the beauty of having a personal space to take care of.

DESK: THE RIGHT SIZE
Is it better to have a large desk that contains every type of accessory or a small one that can only accommodate the bare essentials? The answer lies in the middle, since giving too much space to superfluous objects puts concentration at risk but offering the student too little space would make studying uncomfortable. A good solution is to limit the depth in favor of the width: in this way there is enough surface to study even with a partner without the desk turning into a bazaar. Naturally when choosing the table the starting point is the available width which represents the main constraint on the dimensions.

COMFORTABLE BUT DYNAMIC CHAIR
The posture of children and adolescents is put to the test every day by prolonged use of the smartphone, which is why, at least at the desk, it is advisable to combine a seat that facilitates a correct position of the back. Better to opt for chairs that offer a natural and comfortable posture but at the same time encourage movement. Because staying in the same position for a long time can still cause damage.

YOU CAN NEVER HAVE TOO MANY DRAWERS AND ORGANIZERS
It is right and appropriate to offer a study space from the very early years of school but, naturally, needs and proportions change as time passes. What is always useful are the storage furniture thanks to which you can quickly clear the work surface and have what you need at hand. Drawers and desk organizers help to delimit the space intended for objects and keep them in the right place. Also making the study corner more pleasant to the eye, where you spend a lot of time alone but also in company.

CHANGE STYLE FROM CHILDHOOD TO ADOLESCENCE
Finally, when organizing this space it may be useful to choose some elements that can be changed over the years and others in which to invest in order to use them in the long term. For example, an adjustable desk and chair that can therefore accompany the student for a long time and decorative details such as wallpaper, carpet and small accessories that can be replaced over time to accommodate growth and changing tastes.
